  • What is "savoir faire"?

Three French men are arguing the meaning of "savoir faire".

The first man says: "Suppose a husband comes home unexpectedly, opens the bedroom door, and finds a strange man in bed with his wife. Now, suppose the husband quietly shuts the bedroom door and leaves the house again. That, my friends, is savoir faire."

The second man says: "Suppose that same husband, when he sees his wife in bed with her lover, says, 'Oh, excuse me! Please continue.' THAT is savoir faire."

The third man says: "Suppose that husband says, 'Oh, excuse me! Please continue.' AND the lover continues . . . THAT is savoir faire!!!"

I had to look up "savoir faire" but that is pretty good.

For those who can't be bothered:
Savoir faire: The instinctive ability to know how to deal with any situation that arises.
"We were put on this Earth to fart around, and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise." -Kurt Vonnegut
