How original is original?

I've got this cookie recipe I've been working on, and it's very tasty, and I was thinking about entering it in the Pillsbury Bake-Off as a lark. Thing is, the recipe has to be your original recipe to be entered, and mine started life as the cookie recipe off the back of the package of chocolate chips. It's a different creature now, but how do I know if it's different enough? It's not like there are so many different ways to combine butter and flour and sugar and get cookies.

If I remember correctly copyright law requires 25-30 percent chance from the original (in the USA).

Without a us seeing both recipes there is really no way for us to help decide.
