Face shield doesn't help with smoke from the wildfires all up and down the coast...
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers

I wonder if all that smoke will kill the virus?

I wouldn't expect it to matter.

As a virus, its preferred environment is inside suitable cells (the respiratory tract in this case). It can also persist intact within a drop of water, until the water evaporates (the various durations measured on those cruise ships was linked to how long the water would last). If air (smoky or not) comes in direct contact with the virus, it's already doomed.
