  • R.I.P. Tama

Sad news out of Japan. Tama, the feline honorary stationmaster of the Kishi train station, has passed away at the age of 16. Her apprentice, Nitama, another calico cat, will take over Tama's duties.

I must say, you scared me. I thought you were talking about our Tama!

Back OT, beautiful kitty. She lived a good long life, and was well-loved by many.

Beautiful cat, and a long beloved life. I like the concept of her being elevated into a Shinto goddess.

From what I understand, over 3,000 people attended Tama's funeral ceremony.

It looks like after the 50-day mourning period for Tama, the station has named a 5-year-old calico named Nitama as the new feline stationmaster. Nitama is a big, beautiful, fluffy cat.
