  • TonyDonuts Vs. Battery Idiot By TonyDonuts

Thanks to XCashier for saving this for us.

Called a guy from my cell to let him know that his battery was in. Guy wasn't home, left a message on his machine. No sweat, right? Wrong.

Guy calls my cell the next week. "Yeah, this number was on my caller id last week, and I was just wondering why you called?"

"I'm with Batteries Plus, your battery was in."

"Well, why didn't you call from the Batteries Plus number?"

"Because the store phone was down."

"How do I KNOW that's true?"

    "Excuse me?"

"How do I know that's true. If you were calling from the store, then the store's number would be on my caller id, not some cell number. Now I demand to know who you REALLY are!"

    "Umm, Tony from Batteries Plus."

"LIAR! Why did you call here?!?"

"To let you know your battery was in."

    "LIAR! LIAR! LIAR!"

So I hung up on him. He calls back.

"WHY DID YOU HANG UP ON ME YOU LIAR!"

    So I did it again.

He called off and on for the next few days and demanding to know who I REALLY was and why I had called him.

I finally told him, "Sir, my name is Tony H****m, I am the assistant manager for Batteries Plus. The reason for my call was to inform you that a battery you had special ordered was in."

    "LIAR. Prove it!"

"Come on down and I'll tell you in person. in the mean time if you don't stop calling my cell number I will be forced to report you to the police and the phone company for harassment."

    "WHAT!! YOU CALLED ME!!! LIAR!!!"

"I called you once, two weeks ago (by this point). By the call log from my phone you've called me twelve times over the last several days, screaming at me for 'proof' of why I called."

    "Well, but..."

"You're not the only one with caller id <pause> Don."

"HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME?"

"Because you left your name address and phone number with me at Batteries Plus."

    "WELL, WHO ARE YOU????"

"I've already told you who I am <pause> Don."

    "WELL..."

"Don, you're an idiot, you know that?"

Is this what they mean by technology in the wrong hands?"
"I don't want any part of your crazy cult! I'm already a member of the public library and that's good enough for me, thanks!"

You bet he got his battery, he came in the next day.

He just couldn't tie my message, ("Hi, this is Tony from Batteries Plus") with the non-Batteries Plus number on his caller ID in his mind. Didn't compute for him.
I have a map of the world. It's actual size.
