  • Just another day in my job life.

Here is 2 winners from last night.

    HMMMM BIG DARK BUILDING

I get dispatched on an order. nothing out of the ordinary in that. I arrive at the address. It is an auto repair business. again nothing unusual. Hey they may have to do extra work after hours and want some cheesey goodness.

BUT the building is completely DARK as in NO lights in the building or the parking lot. HMMMM not a good situation for a delivery driver. So I call the number on the ticket. no answer as in NO answer or answering machine. NO way I am just walking up and start trying doors. Hell I am not even getting out of my car. I call the store and tell the MOD the stiuation and I head back to the store.

2 hours later someone calls our side of the town sister store. The "customer" reams them a new one and curses at them a blue streak because that store did not deliver an order to said auto repair place.

You do not know where you live part# WHO the frack cares anymore

I get dispatched on an order to an address that is familiar. The reason it is familiar is that it is on a one block street and is a 3 floor apt building (the only one in the area). I look at the ticket and notice there is NO apt number. I ask the person who took the order if the customer provided an apt number. Nope NO pat number was given. In fact the customer stated they were in a private home.

I call the number on the ticket and a woman answers.

Me - your frustrated delivery driver with lots of grey hair
    SC - Stoney customer

    SC - Hello
Me - Yes this is RMs pizza place calling to verify that an order was placed from this number?
    SC - <pregant pause> Yeeeesssssss
Me - Could you verify the address for me please??
    SC - 819 idiot St
Me - And is this a private home OR and apartment (already knowing the answer)
    SC - A PRIVATE home <HMMMMM got a live one here>
Me - Are you sure it is not an apartment bulding
SC - NO A PRIVATE HOME
Me - Well that particular building has 3 floors with 3 apartments. Which floor are you on??? < and why do you think that building is a private home>
SC - well I am on the 2d floor in apt 2.
Me - thank you. I will be there shortly

and yes I get straight stiffed.
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

why does it matter so much to them to lie about it being an apartment and not a home?

or were they perhaps trying to set you up for failure so that they could try to complain and get free pizza?

My guess is that some people are just plain confused as to what constitutes an apartment. To them apartment = giant brick or concrete building with multiple units on each floor. House = building that looks like a house regardless of whether it was built with separate units or broken into them at some point.

Stupidity. An inability to think. And the utter doucheyness of not tipping your delivery driver. Many sucks in one!

That last story was very very stupid. She says she doesn't live in an apt. but tells you she lives in apt. 2 (on the second floor). mind goes *boom*.

I'm curious about the first story. You would think you would know the address of where you work.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

        I wish porn had subtitles.

sadly this happens on a more frequent basis than you would think.

They apparently DID know the address where they worked (and possibly were indeed at that location) BUT when all of the repair bays are dark, there are no inside OR outside lights, and no one answers the phone (a phone number THEY gave when they placed the order) I am not sticking around.

          Too many red flags.

Maybe the second person has some weird mental concept that anywhere a person (or family) lives in their own space, paying their own rent, is a "private home" - as opposed to group homes, dorms, shelters, government type houseing, etc?

Or maybe she's just delusional, scamming or totally insane

You might also consider using "house" or "individual house" instead of "home" to ask, as house is a more physically descriptive term. That avoids the "but my apartment IS my home confusion". Not, of course, that anyone with an inkling of common sense would be confused enough to not realize that when ordering a pizza, it's the physical description that's important, not how you feel about your place of abode Then again, there I go, trying to link common sense with SC's again. Sigh.
