Default man defends dog from mountain lion - with a PAN

http://www.dcourier.com/main.asp?Sec...ticleID=106422

Man went camping with family and friends and a dog. While making breakfast a rabid mountain lion* jumped out and attacked the dog.

Man defended dog with the first thing at hand - the skillet - and won.

* rabies test came back positive the following monday. Good thing they kept the dog up-to-date on his rabies shots. Pooch is still going to be in quarantine for 45 days but, since he has scratches & gashes that need time to heal that's not a bad thing.

Hope he heals quickly.

It wasn't just a pan, it was a 14-inch cast-iron skillet. Those things are heavy and could kill a person if bashed over their head.

Still, I'm glad the man is okay, and the dog had its shots and will recover. That must've been terrifying.

Plus they were lucky none of the humans got hurt. Rabies shots for people are expensive and painful.

It was good thinking on their part to call the Game & Wildlife dept after the attack to get the animal tested.
