  • Facebook Scam

I came across this through Failblog.org:

    http://mashable.com/2010/07/28/shock...scam-facebook/

TLDR version, Scams are using bogus facebook applications to gather personal data from the unsuspecting.

I saw something like this "posted" by one of my friends a few weeks ago on FB, titled something like "Mother Jailed After Posting This SHOCKING Video!" As the article said, it just wanted people to answer "a few survey questions." Yeah, right, and I've got some oceanfront property in Montana for you...

Ugh. All my friends click on those! I told them to follow Sophos on Facebook (they frequently post alerts on known scams), but I doubt it will help. Most of them are too naive and don't think past "Curious? Clicky!"
