I'm watching a Globe Trekker about NZ, and Ian got to meet some of the Maori. It was so cute--a visitor who has entered the meeting hall is meant to sing a song, so Ian picked "Yesterday." He's not too bad, but not the best. They have some beautiful songs and I love seeing the young people upholding the culture. The canoes are gorgeous vessels. I don't travel, but I'd love to visit NZ.

Good thing I've never been to New Zealand.

          Seshat's self-help guide:
          1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
          2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
          3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
          4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Is it bad that I actually own a set of poi? (light-up ones)

That would be known as Zorbing.

The film "Whale Rider" also shows SOME aspects of Maori culture (not all of them but some).

And if anyone's ever watched a rugby game with the New Zealand All Blacks, they would have seen a haka It can be used as a welcome dance, a war dance, a celebration dance or an entertainment dance. This is one of the more famous ones.

All I know about the Maori I learned from an incredibly sad movie called "Once Were Warriors".
