Irv, did your HSA pay for exam and glasses? Do you know if they generally pay for contacts, too? I have a feeling your company's insurance is similar to mine. I could even pay for the exam, but I need to buy a year's worth of contacts, which is expensive.

Last time I got glasses I went to "America's Best" I got 2 pairs for like $250.00. That was for Micro-thin lenses, which are always more expensive.

We are trying to do lupo's glasses on Zenni right now and they don't seem to be offering a sph lower than -10.00, are we just looking in the wrong place or what?

Yes and I'm not exactly sure, but I would assume it would.

Wow, and I thought my eyes were bad, at -8.5 and -9. I'm sorry you're going through that, it sucks. I hope you find an affordable option, and a decent job quickly.

It might depend on the frame, I saw some that went to -20.00.

Just glanced through, and it does appear to depend on the frames and possibly the type of lens you choose.

Make sure you hang on to the Rx, new glasses can be made from it for up to a year after the date on it. Maybe you can get them with your tax refund?
Are you sure? My most recent prescription was good for two years for glasses (only one for contacts, though).

My Rx is good for 1 year only. But we went to JC Penney Optical, to get quotes for glasses there, and because I wanted to ask some questions about the differences I found on Zenni Optical (i.e., the difference between the hi-indexes. We were going with the 1.74 hi-index, and they didn't contain my Rx, but the 1.67 hi-index did...)

I also got my pupil distance measured, since I didn't get that done before, and it's a requirement on Zenni.

JCP gave me a quote of $280 for everything... >.<

Ironically, we had a sighting while we were there, I'll have to write it up later. I gave the info for this site to one of the employees. The woman we saw was that horrendous, I told the employee 'I'm sorry you had to deal with her, here, check this site out..."

Glasses can be way too expensive, hope you find something not only affordable..but that you like.
