Well, if you go into Land of the Red Vest and use the SCO... One, please don't bring an item that you need assistance to scan it through... We will love you so very much... Two... Our SCO machines actually are locked. In many cases, it may not be so much of "I'm not trained" as "I'm not AUTHORIZED". If one of my four machines runs out of paper, I HAVE to call a head cashier, someone in the cash office, or the manager for the registers to come change it, because the first two have the keys and the last has the keys when the second goes home.
Also, short of putting the paper in upside down(Our paper goes in like TP that goes under, not over), our printers are actually VERY hard to load wrong *Nod* No idea about other places on these processes, though, I've only ever worked the one place.

If every cashier in the world went on strike, retail would come to a screeching halt, even if for a couple hours.
