So this happened many many years ago when I first started working the Customer Service desk. It was just after the Christmas season but deep into the return season and I was alone running the Customer Service desk. Up comes this guy in his 40's and son in his 20's.
Dad: I need to return this camera.
Me: Sure! Do you have the receipt or gift receipt?
Dad: No this was a gift for my son.
Son: Yeah it didn't work I just want cash or store credit for it.
I pick up the box and started looking it over to make sure nothing was removed and what not when I noticed this bright green sticker from Mart-of-Walls on it and I was at their evil counterpart Red Bullseye.
Me: I'm sorry sit, but I can't return...
Dad: You ARE going to return this and give me back my money!
Me: But....
Dad: NO! YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY OR ELSE!
Me: Sir, this was brought from Mart-of-Walls.
Dad: ARE YOU CALLING MY FRIEND WHO BROUGHT THIS FOR MY SON A LIAR?!?!?
Me: The sticker is right here.
He then grabbed the camera out of the box and the next thing I know, he chucks it at me as hard as he could. I moved luckily but it still hit my ear just barely. He was gone before I could even get management to come up front. If I didn't move the way I did, I would have taken that camera to the face.
Later that night Security and I were talking and we decided to see if the camera actually worked. Sure enough it wasn't broken (or hitting the wall fixed it) and for the 8 years I was there, that camera was the camera used for everything.
And that's the story as to why retail workers should take lessons from Ninjas for their own safety.
