The paper towel and TP dispensers at almost every place I've worked actually came with keys meant to open them...the thing is, the "keyholes" were just slits holding open little plastic prongs that could be bypassed and opened by inserting ANY key you had handy, a butter knife, or something similar.

We had someone steal a set of 24 small cups out of our elementary Sunday school class room over the summer last year.

This. The paper towel holders in the bathrooms at my store just require jiggling of any key in the keyslot. And the tp holders just require a good hit with one's fist to pop open.

I think he never had to work with the homeless, or the public, or criminals. Shit gets stolen, it's not our fault.
Having read a number of the SC stories around here, I wouldn't be surprised if someone stole shit. Not enough in the world to deal with that situation, though.

Actually, it's more than likely the homeless people are *drinking* the soap. It contains some alcohols, and can be used to get high from.
Considering it also contains SOAP, which is known to have a laxative effect even in small quantities, I would hate to be around anyone who drank it.

We had an access panel to some network wiring in our dorm room with security screws holding it closed. Took us about 2 weeks to make a key out of an old fork....
Back when I worked in computers (VLB systems were fairly common), during an office move the IT department set up all the computers with network cards in the leftmost slot, fastened with a security screw. Slight problem - on VLB systems, the leftmost 2 slots were VLB, and the multi I/O (including drive controllers) was a VLB card, so it couldn't be moved to an ISA slot. My group wrote (and needed to test) video drivers, and some of the testing needed to be done on VLB cards. A dollar store screwdriver, a file, and 10 minutes, and my group had a screwdriver for the security screws - network cards evicted into an ISA slot, leaving the second VLB slot available for video cards.

Since (AFAIK) Sunday School is associated with Christian churches, it sounds like someone needed to be reminded about the 8th commandment.

I guess the locks on those were designed by Arthur Fonzerelli.

Nah, because then they'd probably be sick enough to end up at my hospital.

People in general steal lots of stuff; homeless people in my area are very bad about it. My hospital doesn't have pillows in the ER because our patients kept stealing them. We also have a limited number of thick blankets that are mostly reserved for patients we're trying to warm up, as those are a common theft item as well. We once (recently) had 12 wheelchairs stolen from my department in a 2 week period; now they are all locked up.

Yeah at our library we once had a brief period where someone was stealing the urinal cakes
also it's some what common for our hand sanitizer stations to get broken into. Most are in public areas so it doesn't happen often but there was this one time where a homeless guy came in nd went straight for one that was in a very public area right in front of the staff desk and in visual range of our security desk and just popped one open and tried walking out with the bag of sanitizer. He saw us heading straight for him so he slammed the bag down on a desk and quickly walked out
