    Not really customers but...

So I've started my new job at The Resort. It is not open yet. It is obviously not open yet. Outside it is surrounded by construction equipment, cones blocking off the fresh blacktop, windows taped up and being painted around, etc. Inside there is random furniture everywhere (all the new mattresses are stacked in the ballroom), carpets in various states of being pulled up/laid down, all the doors to guest rooms and employee-only areas are propped open because everything is being moved and everyone is running around through these areas.

Most of the exterior doors are locked, but sometimes one gets propped open for a little while, and the loading bay doors have been open most of the time.

And somehow, a family of four snuck in and decided to give themselves a tour. That's right, geniuses decided to ignore all the "No Trespassing" signs, find a side door somewhere that was propped open (the front entrance is actually chained shut for now), and decide it would be perfectly fine to wander through and explore, and they brought their kids along for all of it.

With everyone being new as well as having outside contractors in and out all the time, they may have gotten away with it if they'd left the kids at home. Seeing the children was a dead giveaway that they did not belong, though, and Security firmly escorted them all the way off the property.
Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Twice in the last 10 years, my Dad and Step Mom bought a house in neighborhoods that are still in the process of building. One of their hobbies like like to do, is go into houses that are still getting built, explore them.
Just sliding down the razor blade of life.

What a liability nightmare if the kids were injured. Did these rocket scientists complain when they were escorted out?
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Why do I get the feeling they probably thought they could get a discount since the place wasn't finished yet?

I once did this and decided to not buy in that community. I saw the "just-barely-to-code" construction going on. For example, plates (the horizontal 2x4's) between studs were cut about 1/2" too short - there were gaps between them and the studs, you could easily see the nails in that gap. I thought, "if this is an example, I wonder how the roof is made?" And I decided that wasn't the construction company I wanted building my house. BUT - I did it on a weekend, no one working, nothing likely to fall on my head, etc. Plus, at the sales office we were actually invited to do so.
I will not be pushed, stamped, filed, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered. My life is my own. --#6

Yeah, my brother worked in HVAC for a while. There are a few places in town that I would NEVER rent an apt. (assuming I was in the market for one) based on what he told me about the way they were constructed.

Either that or comped because none of the amenities were ready.

That's how we decided on our house selection.

There's something about new building that just makes humans flock. I'm one of them that will stay out from under foot and watch. I could watch for HOURS, just learning bits and tucking them into corners of my brain.

Difference is, I stay out of the way to watch. Stepping under the gondola being built and the peg board about to be dropped is NOT the brightest place to stop and watch the building! The big guys and I could barely get the board stopped in time, you old git of a goat and a moose!
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.
