I worked night shift tonight. A woman came in with her young daughter, and picked up a pack of water, a few snack type items, and also had some fuel. She opened her wallet, and realized she had forgotten her debit card at home, and was out of checks. She ran to her car to call her hubby, and I voided the transaction and moved on to the next woman in line. That woman asked me what the deal was, and I explained to her what had happened. To my surprise, she offered to pay for the other woman's things, gas and all! I asked if she knew the young woman, and she said she didn't. The younger woman was grateful almost to the point of tears. It really went well toward restoring my faith in humanity.
