      Kinda funny hearing singlet applied to clothes "normal" people wear. Around here anyone mentioning a singlet is most likely involved in wrestling somehow, as that's what they call their lovely lycra apparel.

        Here a tank top is I think what the Merkins call a sweater-vest.A sleeveless cardigan thing that features extensively in 1970s knitting patterns.
        Apparently over the pond,a tank top is like a camisole type.That might be why the American ex was in hysterics when I told her I was wearing a tank top
