You could mention that the coca cola produced in mexico isn't made with HFCS, but with cane sugar.

Since somebody mentioned Fanta, I should probably point out its original purpose - as a feminine hygiene product.
This one clearly requires some elaboration!

And tastes completely different, too! As does Mexican Sprite et al.

Speaking of Coke and cocaine, it's kind of interesting when you look into that aspect of the beverage. The Coca plant is still used to make Coke. Once upon a time the coca leaf was used in the brew. After a while, they used spent leaves instead of fresh. Spent leaves are the leftovers from the cocaine extraction process.

Nowadays, they use a purified extract from the coca leaf. A mfg in NJ imports and processes coca leaf and extracts the cocaine. The leaf is further processed to get the extract, while the cocaine goes on to a pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Coca Cola over in the UK is now bringing out a "healthier" Stevia based variety of the drink.

Get the book For God Country and Coca-Cola. It is a very good history of the Coca-Cola company.

Considering how Coca-Cola total botched the marketing of teh bottled version of the drink way back then, maybe that could be your topic.

As for Fanta, it was invented in Germany in 1941 as a replacement for Coca-Cola by the German division of Coca-Cola.

There's also "Dublin" Dr Pepper, made the same way. Apparently, they have an agreement with Dr Pepper not to sell it outside of a certain radius of Dublin, Texas.

Gotta love DrPepper and their wonderful double-dealing ^_^ Back in NOLA, it's made by DrPepper/7UP, and bottled by *both* Coca-Cola and by PepsiCo...whose bottling plants are more or less next to one another. It's actually next to impossible to find MrPiBB (Coke's equivalent to DrP) in that market, save in some drink fountains. DrP, however, is *everywhere*.
