  • Parked in the road

Was on lunch break when a classmate noted that there was a car parked in the street.

Just....in the street. It's two lanes both directions, and they in the left-most one shortly before an intersection. I thought at first maybe they were waiting for traffic to clear but nope....the gal was clearly parked there and looked like she was possibly messing with a phone. It's a fairly busy road too, though there wasn't too much traffic that time of day.

We watched her for over two minutes....just stopped in the road.....before finally driving away.

There was a ginormous main campus parking lot had she turned left (all free parking), our parking lot to the right (along with other office buildings that have their own lots as well), but apparently the road was just a more convenient place to just stop and text.

    I've seen something similar

One of the busiest retail streets in my city, single lane each way, tram tracks in the middle.

    Traffic jam.

    Why?

Van just stopped in the middle of the road, driverless.

Probably making a delivery and too lazy to find somewhere to park...

      Well, on the positive side.

At least she was not texting and driving. (should have used a parking lot, instead of blocking traffic. Final score, 7 out of 10 on the suck scale).

What? You don't play with flamethrowers on the weekends? You are strange.

"Brown" and "National Speedy" use both corners/no-parking zones and turning lanes as parking sports around here, as a matter of course. They don't block active traffic per se, but it's still annoying (they don't park at the light, more like 20 feet back or so, so the left-turn-only lane is still usable). Of course, their bosses tell them to obey all laws and never do that, then give them time quotas that are impossible to meet unless they just park wherever they can -- the drivers are just following orders, tho. AFAIK, said companies actually set aside a certain portion of their yearly budgets for parking tickets in order to account for this.

All the time I see trucks, vans and even cars stopped in the middle of a lane of traffic - usually they are on their phone and appear to getting directions!

Hey genius, how about pulling _off_ the road before you do that!
