In my experience, the only time someone keeps that kind of chemical, in that type of container, in that type location; it almost always means an attack.
Yep, I heard that too. Chlorine and other chemicals--gasoline, for example--tend to make people nervous when you put them into glass containers

Not really appropriate for the situation, but this 'dane couldn't handle being exposed...

Had some friends (including my roommate) who were at the convention, though none of the people I know went to the hospital that I know of. Official number of people that were hospitalized was 19 as far as I know, though none of them in super serious condition. I did read one account from someone who was on the 9th floor who was hospitalized, they got the evacuation call...and didn't know that their stairwell was contaminated, so they ran right into the worst of it and nearly passed out. Luckily they made it away alright.

Of course, now it's a guessing game about who it was...it's unlikely that they will ever catch the person unless they were dumb enough to handle the glass jar with their bare hands (if so, some of the pieces may be big enough for finger prints). The popular theories among the furries are either A) someone who was banned from the convention, B) someone who hates furries, or C) a hotel employee who hates the company, the con, or both. Add in D) Psychotic and you have a collection of choices.

Thankfully no one was seriously hurt though...chlorine gas can be nasty stuff, and it can knock you out very quickly if you're not careful.

They're now offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible.

They apparently dont have cameras in the stairwells.. One of my friends was directly affected and they questioned him for a while about it
I wonder if there were any cameras in the hall near that stairwell. Might show someone going into the stairwell. I hope they find whoever's responsible.

Or even someone in the hallways carrying a glass jar. I'm willing to bet they have footage somewhere showing the responsible party, if not in a prosecutable fashion. It's just finding it. And we won't (or at least shouldn't) hear about it until after they are arrested.

With the exception of a casino, I have never seen a hotel with cameras on the guest floors. The main reason for this is often due to liability - if someone has a heart attack and collapses in a hall under a camera and no one notices, the hotel gets sued, but if there's no camera, then there's no way that the hotel could have noticed until they came walking along, and thus are not liable under the reasonable measures statutes. This is the same reason that you don't see cameras in the pool and hot tub areas of hotels.

So I would be stunned if they had camera footage on the floors, which means it's unlikely there is a recording of the person unless they were dumb enough to walk through the lobbies or meeting areas with the jar they broke in sight...
