    This thread so reminds me of my first car. A Hillman Hunter, bought for something ridiculous like £50. It wasn't quite an 'old banger' but had certainly seen better days. Even the seat belts weren't inertia reel ones, but the sort that you had to manually adjust to fit you. Wasn't inclined to go much over 50 miles an hour either (though that might not be a bad thing for someone who's just passed their test)

    Having said that, it never, never let me down. In the winter, on frosty mornings when my neighbours' (far newer) cars were coughing, farting, grumbling and refusing to co-operate, I'd get into the Hunter, pull out the choke, turn the key and she'd roar into life. Didn't look much but could always be relied on.
    Engaged to the sweet Mytical He is my Black Dragon (and yes, a good one) strong, protective, the guardian. I am his Silver Dragon, always by his side, shining for him, cherishing him.
