  • We Have to.

Look you are returning a product. I don't care if you tell me everything is there, I don't care if you say you never used it or it's all still fine. I don't care if it's factory sealed. We have to open it, we have to make sure everything is there, we have to check the serial number. We have to see if the computer turns on. We have to, it is the fucking rules.

All headphones, usb keys and memory cards get sent back to the vendor to be disposed of, because we have to. It's just how it goes. So stop getting annoyed when I have to rip it all apart, stop telling me I don't need to check and stop buying shit that you are just going to return a few hours later (yes specific annoying time wasting regular I'm talking to you).

We have rules we have to follow, period. Oh and regardless of if you've used it, or wiped it yourself we still have to datawipe it. We have set procedures that we have to follow and nothing that comes out of your mouth will change it.

It might be that a lot of people take something home, find out they don't need it, and feel bad when you start to dismantle something because they automatically assume you think they opened it and stole parts. Not many people know that policies like this are in place, believe it or not.
The fact that jellyfish have survived for 650 million years despite not having brains gives hope to many people.

You would have to be incredibly dense for the world to revolve around you.

Arg - Aye. The sad thing is, some people really DO steal parts, or just buy a new items as a replacement and "return" the old, broken item. As usual, a tiny percentage of people ruining things for everybody else.

I can think of one thing that they could say to change it, of course a SC would NEVER say it: "If the return procedure is that complicated, forget it - it was only a couple dollars, I'll keep it".

If they decide not to do the return, but to keep the item, there's no need for you to datawipe it.
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.
