Okay. I was listening to calls today when I heard a really good one.
Customer calls in. Well, she's not a customer of ours any more, but she's calling because she has a package, sent from us, that should have gone elsewhere. She looks at the packing slip, trying to give our CSR as much info as possible.
"Let's see... the order number is 456789, the shipment number is... OH MY GOD!"
I'm sitting there, thinking no one has ever had that kind of reaction over a shipment number. It's also a great clue that somewhere, another shoe is speeding towards the earth at maximum velocity.
"This was shipped in 9/05."
A quick calculation lets me know that this package is not only misdelivered, it's late. Very late.
CSR: "Did you just get the package?"
Customer: "Yes! It came today!"
