KITTY!

This story comes from my past. Way back when I was just a tiny ghostie and not the repsac I am now.

At the time, my family lived in Brookhaven Mississippi. (the state is key.)

One day, I remember going with my dad and mom to the local TG&Y store. As dad pulled into the parking lot, we notice this pick up truck sitting in the lot. No biggie right? Well there happened to be a large group of people staring at the truck.

Or rather it wasn't the truck, but the cat up on the roof. This cat would paw at anyone that walked past, tended to lie up there purring, and while cute most vowed not to go near the vehicle. Apparently, kitty had gotten out of the cab of the truck through the window and wormed his way up on to the cab. To be honest, he looked quite happy about things.

The police arrived, took one look at the cat and called for the owner to come out and get Kitty down. Kitty wasn't hurting anyone, but yes it was freaking people out. The guy was really nice, and kitty turned out to be a big kitten (figuratively speaking). In fact, when kitty got down the first thing he did was walk over and begin to do figure eights around the officer, purring the whole time. Much to the horror of the cop.

Reading the story about the Pit Bull reminded me of kitty (I really think that was his name) and the little scene he caused. It brings a smile to my face to think that one little cat could cause so much trouble.

Oh, I bet you're wondering why they reacted like that?

In short. Kitty was a mountain lion. He was also a BIG BABY!

wow, isn't it illegal to own a mountain lion, or any other animal that is consideres 'wild', I mean maybe the guy had a permit or worked at a shelter or zoo, but really? Why take a mountain lion out in public?

Depends on where you live. Some places allow you to have exotic pets with a special permit. I've heard of some big cats [including one family who had five circus rescue tigers] that could be trained to be 'safe' with people. Of course, you hear a lot more about the ones that turn on their owners. Something only for people who really do know what they are doing, I would think.

Poor kitty! It is sad when people keep big cats as pets, because they make terrible pets and generally end up abandoned or, if they're lucky, in sanctuaries. Unless he stays home full time to train and entertain his cat, shouldn't have one.

I keep telling my mom that I know how I'm going to die...one day I'm going to see one of those or a tiger or something, my "AWWWW KITTY" reflex will kick in, and I'll be kitty chow within a couple minutes.

I would have been over there petting it. I am just that stupid.

I was talking with my mom about this story last night after posting it, and she added some to it.

Apparently, at some point (either during this or at another time) my dad got too close and got a bare paw batting at the top of his head and ball cap.

I don't know the story behind Kitty, but I remember the guy would often bring him to the local schools. I think, (this being hind sight) that Kitty was a rescue, possibly a teaching aid. I must admit though, he was cute.

Where I live, we occasionally get mountain lions in the backyard O_O housecats are definitely inside only if you want them to live a long life! A friend of my mother's once emailed everyone on her contact list some pictures of a mountain lion and two kittens in the tree in her backyard, snacking on a tasty haunch-o-deer.

I'd love to have a moutain lion or a tiger. Of couse I never will but I just think it would be great to have one to cuddle. Guess I'll just have to be content with the fact that my tabby tolerates me enough to let me cuddle him occasionally.

P.S. I hope there's big cats in Heaven and I'll get to hug one then.
