Damn stupid delivery drivers.....
Okay, I am lazy, and I order food from delivery places every so often. And I tip the guys well, since they are bringing me my meal without me lifting a finger other than to grab my wallet.
But.....for not the first time, a guy from the local Chinese place came to my door with my food, but without any change. Mind you, I didn't have any large bills, just a freakin' twenty. How can you deliver an order and not have change for a twenty? Luckily for me, I found the right bills (had to change out some bills from what my roommates gave me for rent) and gave the guy his money, plus a healthy tip.
But I SWEAR, the next time some yahoo brings me food and doesn't have change, if he expects me to just fork over the entire twenty for a nine dollar order, he's out of his mind. If I find the exact change, that's what they'll get, and if all I have is a twenty, then I'll call my damn credit card into the restaurant....but I'll be DAMNED if I am going to give some asshole an eleven dollar tip on a nine dollar meal just because he's either too lazy or too incompetent to have basic change with him!
Comments?

He's trying to get you to tip HUGE.
I'm a bitch so what I would do is call in my order on the CC and not give the driver a tip except a verbal one. "Carry change."

Well, it doesn't happen all the time, or even most of the time. But it has happened a few times, at least twice, maybe even three or more times. Since I work on tips, I often have plenty of various bills on hand.
And I am not saying they ARE gunning for the huge tip, as they have no idea what I have before they leave the restaurant. But I am done playing this game with them, whether it's because they're greedy, lazy, or incompetent, or just plain stupid.
Next time no change=no tip.

If it's the same driver or at least the same place I'd maybe let someone know at least when you're calling in if not at some other time.

not a good idea to call in a CC order(online is ok they don't see the number)-that's how my husband's bank acct got hit hard-because they got the number, the CID, and because it was a delivery-the billing address(everything that is needed for an online purchase). They had an internet shopping spree-the bank caught it quick-but it was less than 24 hours and over $600 worth of fraudulent charges(yes he got it all back).

Sounds like the guy was trying to scam a big tip.
I'd just refuse the order, myself.
"Oh, but Maras, it's for the driver's SAFETY..."
Please ... $20 in change? If a restaurant offers delivery service, offer delivery SERVICE. I'm not asking to break a $100.

I always call in on CC orders. Never had a problem yet and if I do, the bank will reimburse me and I can always sue the thieves.
I always make sure that I know who it is that's taking my order as well.
But, honestly, with all the hacker software and spybots (whatever you want to call them) I'd be more worried about putting the order in online then over the phone.

My biggest problem with delivery drivers is that every one of them is some young male gangster who pulls up in some pile of crap Geo Metro or delapidated Honda Civic blaring and thumping rap music with no muffler to speak of......for Pete's sake, there are old people who go to bed around 9:00 here, not to mention there's no reason to have your music that loud at night! TURN IT DOWN!
And for the love of God, use some of those tips to put a new muffler on that piece of crap before you get pulled over or complained about.

Actually, that's mostly a myth perpetrated by news media and Hollywood overstating the issue. Most of the time someone steals CC info, it tracks back to an employee on the inside, or someone cracking the database where the store keeps the information. Don't get me wrong--keylogging software can still be used for that purpose, but most criminals get it through easier means than parsing a huge keylog file in the hopes you used a CC number. And decent security software will stop almost all keyloggers from working.
