Default Cleaning House

So I'm back from house sitting for my BF's family (they have a dog that hates being by himself) and come home to realize.... I need to clean. -_- Lovely.

A while ago BF and I was in the store looking for some more upholstry cleaner. The brand we had been using wasn't great but got rid of most the stains. As usual, the store was out. Lovely. But another brand caught my eye.

It's called Folex: Instant Carpet Spot Remover. It caught my eye because it's in a plain white spray bottle with purple writing on it. Not multi-coloured like the others out there. So we bought it and thought we'd give it a try...

And OMG, It WORKS!

It got out the mystery stains that came with the couch set (we bought it off a divorcee who told us her husband had cheated on her so she was getting rid of everything for cheap; Spite Money, she called it. My kinda lady.).

Of course, then I'm stuck mopping and cleaning the oven. I have no idea what R cooked in my skillet, but it looks nasty....

But I HAD to share the GLORY that is this stuff!

We sell that at the store.

It's not a big seller because the package is so plain, but I've heard from people who have used it, and they say it works great.

I'm moving to a place with carpet again (Yay!) so that's good to know! I'll keep it in mind.

On a similar note, does anyone have a good suggestion of how to clean hardwood floors? I've mostly just swept them, but I'd like for them to be pretty and shiny so I get my deposit back. (/threadjack)

Old English has floor cleaner, I believe. I'm not sure how good it is, but, I've seen it at the church I used to go to. The pews always looked in great shape and (I think) they were the originals from when the sanctuary was built (~1902).

Also, for day-to-day stuff, get a Swiffer. When my dad and I removed the carpeting from my bedroom, it got the several years of dirt and dust off.

This is great stuff. My parents' house is nearly all hardwood, and my mom swears by this stuff. This is the specific soap she uses, but if you need something else, they have a whole line of products.

I agree with The_STD, Murphy's Oil Soap is wonderful for hardwood (I mop once a week, or I try to anyways) and it leaves a light, clean smell. Not a heavily perfumed scent.

Who knows. Roommate J was worse though. Thank the Nine Hells that his stupid pet fox, Radar, doesn't live here anymore. That rat shat everywhere.
