New puppy! Have pics, need advice
His name is Louie. He's a pug, nine weeks old.
I've attached some pics.
I could use some housebreaking advice, if anyone's got some. Our first pug was already housebroken when we got him, so this is my first time training a puppy. He may be a bit young, yet. He doesn't seem to be able to hold it.
Basically, we've been watching him like hawks and following him around the house waiting for him to squat. As soon as he does, we grab him and make a hilarious dash for the back door, holding him out in front of us. By the time we get there, he's peed all over us, and he's got nothing left. Still, we put him down on the grass and praise him, while he looks at us like we're nuts.
If there's a better way, I'd really love to hear about it.

Congrats! He's adorable!
Try to get him on a schedule. If you feed him twice a day, make sure you walk him right after. And then walk him several other times during the day. Start as soon as you get up, and be prepared to take him out every hour or so until you can figure out exactly when he has to go.
When he does his business outside, praise him and give him a small treat - we used Cheerios for our Maltese. See if you can associate the need to go out with something like ringing a bell or bringing you his leash.

PUPPY THREAD!!!!
I wanna pug... *pouts*
Ok, here's the deal. You're doing the right thing, just not acting quickly enough. Get a six foot leash, and thread it through your belt loop. Clip the other end to a harness on the puppy (I don't like to see collars on brachiocephalic breeds as puppies). Anytime you can't have him with you attached to your belt, he should be in a crate with a nice blankie and a chew toy, or in a safe room like a bathroom with potty pads and a baby gate up to stop him from escaping.
Now, don't wait for him to squat. If he's attached you should feel him getting restless and sniffing and circling. As soon as he starts doing anything odd, like sidling under the desk or snuffling in circles, outside time and praise him (quietly so as not to startle him) for pottying outdoors.
Also remember the following things make puppies have to go:
-Eating
-Drinking
-Playing
-Waking up from a nap
-Meeting a new dog
-Meeting a new person
-Getting a treat
-Training sessions
-Someone coming home
-Greeting a friend
So after any of the above things happen... straight outside with you and the puppy!
Finally, when you take him out to potty, wait until he goes before starting a play session. He should understand that it's do his business first, play later.

I have some advice! Gimme the puppy
I keed, I keed.
He's adorable! Saydrah pretty much said what needs to be done, so just follow that and the pup should be housebroken in no time! If you want to add a twist, while the puppy is doing his business, make a whistling sound between your teeth. After a while, he'll associate that with peeing/pooping, and if you need to go out and want the pup to "go", just take him outside, make whistle and he'll go.

Awwwww he is so cute, wanna snuggle him
When we got our puppy we put newspaper down by the back door, everytime he started to act like he wanted to go we used to pick him up, plonk him in the paper and open the door. He soon got used to going to the door if he wanted to go out.
