Default An update on my health

Well, I just got off the phone with my doctor.

I have to make appointments with 2 different doctors and hunt down the film from my CT scan.

Turns out I have a very fatty liver. A normal liver is 12 centimeters. Mine is 20 centimeters! I have to cut down/back/completely out fatty foods from now on.

Also, it seems I have a hernia. It's in my belly button. I also have a dislocated muscle in my lower abdomen area. The hernia doctor/surgeon will be the one who will be looking at my hernia, dislocated muscle & intestines (the CT scan didn't show the innards of my intestines just that I have them).

People who do a lot of heavy sports get the dislocated muscle. I'm a couch potato. I have no clue why this is dislocated, but this also means I cannot do any lifting more than 5 pounds.

I also have the name & phone # for a vascular surgeon to find out why I have edema in my legs & if there is anything that can be done for me.

And tomorrow is my birthday. Yay. Happy frakking birthday to me.

Actually, I'll say happy birthday to you now, and mean it. After all, you're above the ground, and able to stay that way. If nothing else, you're alive. And that is a wonderful gift to have, and one I sometimes have trouble remembering too.

And I have one birthday wish for you: Once more around the sun, no stopping, no getting off. And we'll just have to repeat that wish next year

It's good that you know what's wrong now and can go from there at least. Hope you feel better.

Glad to know you have intestines.

Happy Birthday to you and I hope you are feeling better soon.

edit: Hehe, I quoted you and the rest of my text came out purple, too

Thank you everyone for making me feel better.

And BookstoreEscapee - Purple text is SRS BZNS and is the only color in the world that is appropriate for a Rummy of the Rock Church.

I'm going to start eating less fat in my diet. More salads, more lean pork, chicken & beef. I'm going to actually start doing more home cooking.

At least I don't have to carry anything heavy (vacuum cleaner, garbage, groceries. And yes, I'm taking full advantage of it. LOL)

I'm feeling better today. I think the shock of finding out all the things that are wrong with me all at once was just a little overwhelming. I am going to see my therapist on this Friday. I think that it's a good thing.

I'm just hoping all this doesn't put Kelly into a tail spin of sorts and have her regress. (I can't pick her up, me being gone for surgeries and recovery, Mr. Rum going out of town for a month, etc.) Yeah, this is getting stressful again. *le sigh*

Default Update!!!!!

I went to the Gastro Doctor today.

Turns out my hernia is so small, he couldn't find it! He was poking me all over my tummy and belly button area and then he had me cough. It was really tiny. He said not to worry about it.

Same thing about the fatty liver. I told him I'm trying to change my diet, but it's not as easy as it sounds. He said even small changes will be good.

The lower abdominal muscle that is separated is near where I had my c-section. It just means they cut into my stomach muscles & I'll never have my 6-pack abs back.

Now for the pain I've been having along my left side & under my left breast - that is where the ribs end & the cartilage & muscles begin. I've had some trauma done there, and it's inflamed. If it's not something that impedes my every day life, don't worry about it. If it gets worse & worse he said I need to see rib specialist. He did tell me to take Aleve to keep the inflammation down (thank you Costco for the giant bottle of the stuff).

On October 16 - I'll be going to the vascular surgeon to discuss my edema & see what could be causing that.

Hey Rum, I'm glad things are starting to look up! I didn't see your update earlier, so I just have to wish you a Happy Belated B-day!

Good luck with everything!
