Default 19 Year Old Punk Beats Up Our LP!

Okay.... I just wanted to say punk, I'll be honest, I'm only 20 myself. And he didn't beat up our LP guy, just...well, punched him. Basically as I was walking up today I saw a couple officers arresting this guy outside our store, and a whole bunch of my coworkers standing around. Apparently this kid had been watched buy our super awesome LP guy the entire time he was in the store, and when LP went to bust him at the door, the kid threw a punch at him and tried to beat him up!

Now our LP guy isn't like...bouncer sized, but he's a big guy, obviously works out (and very cute, I might add). He can take a punch, but was having a hard time getting this kid off him, so an older customer hopped in and held the customer until the cops got there. Which is nice because I'm not sure if we would have been able to detain him.

What was so precious to this guy, what was he willing to fight over?

4 halloween wigs. Coming to a grand total of 21.67$.

What is he getting for all this? At the very least, two lovly charges of theft and assault!

If thieves were smart, then they wouldn't need to be thieves!

It always was the lower amounts that gave me the most trouble when I did LP, bizarre really.

Doesn't the physical violence/assault turn it into robery or am I thinking of it needing to involve a weapon or threat of a weapon. And thank goodness for the customer for pulling the shit bag off the LP guy.

The people who go for the big stuff are probably better at it.

Thief? *knows Garrett, but can't really give more description, other than Eidos...*

I was about to respond to the OP that I wasn't sure about the legality of detaining said suspect, and then I realized it was the other customer who did, and that's more like Good Samaritanism...

Not sure about where the OP is from but the police here have told me I can do whatever I need to do to stop and detain a shoplifter.

Infact the one officer told me that the local supermarket has chased shoplifters down the road and when they caught them they have beat the crap out of them to subdue them until the police arrived.
