Back to Job Corps

Well my friends, it may be back to Job Corps for me. But this time I will not be going alone. Sir [as mentioned in a previous thread, this is the SO] will be going with me, and we will be going back to straighten out our lives. We have a clear cut plan of what we want to do, and will be heading to the local Job Corps office in the morning to talk to an admissions councilor.

I will, of course, let everyone know when this will happen, and keep everyone updated on how things are going

Looks like we won't be able to go back to the same center, but when we gave them our SSN's so they could look up our files, you should have seen the woman's face light up to see what good students we were LOL

Im sure I can google it, but what is Job corp exactly? Ive heard of it before but have always been unsure of what it was ..

Job Corps is a federally funded program where young adults ages sixteen to twenty-four can go and learn a trade and get their hsd or ged [if they don't have it already], and live rent/bill free while on center. They get bi-weekly pay [not much], as well as a much larger check upon completion of the program. It's self paced, and allows people to get a free education in a safe, drug free, violence free environment.

I've been through it before, it's actually where I met Sir. It's not a bad program. It looks like we're probably going to be going to the center in Pittsburgh... I'll let everyone know for sure where we're going when I know [should know more in the next week or so], and if anyone is around the center, feel free to let me know

Job Corp here in my town has a very very bad reputation. For years the Job Corp kids preyed upon the homeless downtown, the university kids, and the neighborhood residents. Several years ago three of them killed another. Two or in for life without parole and the third is on death row.
