Probation for shady reasons.

Default Probation for shady reasons.

Well I am now on a six month probationary period at work. The reason for this? Customer Complaints of course. It is ALWAYS the customers fault.

Anyhow. I have been getting complaints from customers that I am bothering them or being too loud. Cleaning tables can be quite loud. Especially when I need to reset the tables.

The thing I am mad about is that I've been getting several complaints and they haven't said anything until almost a year in.

My review says I never get complaints yet obviously I have been getting some.

I hate that they lied to me. How am I to improve if I'm never told anything is wrong?

Now if anyone complains for any reason I can be fired. And that is just wrong

So how are you meant to improve if nobody tells you what you need to make better? Talk to your boss & don't be coy about it.

Sounds fishy to me why they would put you on probation.

They say that I need to let the customers eat in peace and not to worry so much about everything being 100% clean. This honestly doesn't bother me. I just wish they would have told me before threatening my job and taken away possibilites for advancement.

It's also possible that they're looking to cut people, so they're setting you up to be fired with cause, and perhaps avoid having to pay unemployment.

Yep that's what it sounds like. Sounds like they're trying to get rid of him and they're looking for excuses to document him for so that when he tries to get unemployment they can claim "Poor Performance" as a justification to not pay it.

I can gauarantee you that if you dispute this in the future (after you have hopefully moved on to bigger and better things), they will say just the opposite. In the meantime, they will want you to be whisper-quiet AND 100% clean. After all, not having it truly clean will invite complaints and possibly even bring down the Board of Health...which could get you fired... Hmmm...

honestly his direct supervisor seems to have a stick up her bum regarding him, and that job in general, and has been caught a few times doing incredibly unsanitary things for laziness' sake.

Hun, just keep doing the best you can, and I'm sure you'll stick it out 'till C leaves, and then you should be great cuz everyone else likes you!
