Default pedestrian issues

So driving to work tonight I stop at an intersection with traffic lights.

the lights red for me so... I stop (obviously).

2 women walk up to the corner and stop. So i'm assuming, like me, they are waiting for the light to change green so they can cross (in the same direction i'm going).

so the light changes, turns green for me and the 2 woman cross IN FRONT of my car. (so against the light... they got there when it was green for them and WAITED for it to turn red and THEN crossed).

had to slam my brakes on as well.. i didn't expect anyone outside of a 2 year old to be that friggin stupid.

scratch that 2 year olds are smarter.

Hope I was clear enough in the post.

We get you loud and clear.

Some people take the "pedestrians have the right of way" far, far too literally.

Where I live, they seem to think that they have the absolute right to run across a 4 to 6 lane highway in the middle of rush hours when the main traffic (traffic going north and south) have the green light. By the way, the speed limits in these spots is anywhere from 45-50 mph.
