Default That is an EXIT!

Was driving to Wendy's today, and came up on it from the opposite of my normal direction, so, I hit the exit lane before I hit the entrance. The exit curves off to follow the flow of traffic as you leave the restaurant, thus, to the right, with a median separating the lane from oncoming traffic, so, obviously, an EXIT! Imagine my surprise to see a car stuck, having jumped the median, such that she couldn't get out. I calmly continued on to the entrance, found a place, and parked to walk in, only to notice she had gotten unstuck, and made her way in through the exit. Lovely. More about her in a Sightings thread I shall post shortly.

On my way out, I backed out of my parking spot, as traffic was dead, and tried to leave, only to get nearly sideswiped backwards by a car backing out of the line for the drive through, and then nearly got T boned by a car coming out of the drive through. Yerg... As I tried to turn into traffic, a moving van drove up in the turn lane, blocking my view of oncoming traffic...

Our parking lot has a one-way traffic flow around the building, indicated by SEVERAL LARGE ARROWS on the pavement. Of course, half the guests don't care and go backwards. Have fun when you get into a collision; since you're going against the designated flow of traffic you'll be liable!

I feel your pain there. I drive a fairly small car, and always get my view blocked by larger trucks who pull out too far. Seriously, you're riding high in a huge truck, do you really need to pull out that far to see the oncoming traffic? (I've driven small trucks in the past as well, and the answer is no, you don't!)

My apartment complex has a center road that's one way, in only, and two outer roads that are one way, exit only.

I encountered some cow coming in one of the exit roads just this weekend. The worst part is that she drove the wrong way past the entrance road, so she had absolutely no reason to be going the wrong way, except sheer stupidity.

On that topic, whoever decided to make it so that, no matter which direction I'm entering a left turn in the median lane with an oncoming left turn, I can't see around the car coming right at me, thanks, genius.
No, seriously, I could be uphill of the car trying to turn left across the lane from me, and I can't see around him, and he's leaning to his left, apparently trying to see around me... never fails. Of course, people drive huge cars around here. Hell, I could probably survive on a Smart car, if I weren't too big to fit in one. (Tall, not fat, though I am overweight) I don't regularly drive other people places...

I have a pretty big car and still have to pull halfway into the street out of our apartment parking lot in order to see if anyone's coming. Looking to the left is fine, since there's no street parking that way (with the rare UPS truck or "too good for rules" minivan), so I've got a nice unobstructed view of the top of the hill and whether or not some bus is going to come barreling at me. Looking right, though.... There's parking on my side of the street there, and a downhill slope all of half a block or so to an intersection, angled in just such a way that I can never see around the cars parked there. It's only ever clear on the weekend, when the school across the street and the daycare in our complex are both closed. ::sigh::

I was recently volunteering at a event and directing traffic. From the parking lot side the correct flow of traffic is clearly marked with painted arrows, huge "DO NOT ENTER" signs on either side of the entrance and exit sings pointing to the exit before the entrance.

I had a reflective orange vest and mag light with orange cone for night use.

One older driver slowly creeps up, watching me and stops...

D: I'm leaving.
M: ok that way *points*
D: why?
M: this is one way.
D: how the hell am i supposed to know
M: their painted arrows, the do not....
D: screw it

He just guns it and flys down the entrance road to a chorus of horns
