Sent Away
Hey all, just a heads up I'm actually a regular poster here BUT i decided to make a new name for this one post as in order to get the point across some people may actually guess where my place of employment actually is. I will probably only use this name once since I have managed to find ways to tell the stories without giving away my location.
Anywho, onward!
So this is a story about how a possible thief and definite asshole.
Cast of Characters, with skin color for pertinent people:
Me: Mainly a casual observer to events
S: Other supervisor who rocked this one (Caucasian)
E: Door greeter going on break (European but also Caucasian)
J: Door greeter taking over for E
N: Home Electronics worker (East Indian)
SC: Racist dumbass (possibly Indian, brown skin)
I would also like to point out I live in a very ethnically diverse section of the city. Racism is generally not an issue here as even my store seems like a melting pot. Between all the other supervisors and I I can count 4-5 different countries of origin.
Its a very hot summer day and a busy day at the store. A gentlemen (using the term loosely) walks into the store. He is wearing a very heavy plaid jacket/sweater that in no way matches the weather and has a matching hat that looks like it can give Elmer Fudd a run for his money. When he walks in there was a changing of the guard at the door to cover breaks.
In order to enter our store one must have a membership. This SC did not have one. Keep in mind that at this point E and J are both at the door about to switch out.
J: Sir? membership card please?
SC: Err...ummm....i dont....I wanted to apply...?
J: Alright, membership desk is on the other side please.
SC leaves and comes in the other entrance, with E behind him as this is the same rout to go to the break room. SC doesn't actually go to the memb. desk but just keeps walking. About halfway to the break room (about 40 ft from the memb. desk) E pipes up.
E:Excuse me sir, the memb desk is back that way.
SC: Why are you following me? Cant a guy walk around?
E: You said you wanted to apply and the desk is back that....
SC: How dare you follow me around, is this how you treat people here?
E: Sir I'm on my way for my break and figured you missed the desk since you dont have a memb card, its back that way.
At this point S and myself walk up to see what the commotion is, S gets there before me.
S: Whats the problem?
SC: She is following me since I dont have a card!
S: I think she is just going on break and without a card you cant enter the store proper.
SC: You know what? whatever. Have a nice day. Bye.
SC then starts walking through the tills to enter the store.
S: Sir? Where are you going?
SC: To the washroom!
S: They are located over there. *points to the giant sign thats on our side of the tills*
SC: *huff* Fine!
At this point we are fairly suspicious of his actions. He never mentioned the washroom before (since E had seen him since the beginning) He was wearing WAY to bulky clothes for the weather, he was behaving erratically. We figured we should alert LP to keep an eye on the guy since he hasn't done anything bad but is setting off alarm bells. Unfortunately there is no LP present so I tell my Manager about him. The exchange between my manager and I takes no more then two minutes.
When I step out of the office I decided to keep an eye out for him in case he tried to enter the store again but in the two minutes it took for me to talk to my manager he had walked across the store, entered the bathroom, done his business, walked out, and walked back to the front door. There is no way he could have " done his business" while he was in there.
I looked at the entrance and saw N and S talking to SC. This next part is what I got from N and S after the SC left. S had been called to the door for a different purpose and N was just walking in wearing our store uniform. SC then approached S.
SC: I would just like to apologize for earlier, its just when people are acting racist it really gets me going.
S: Excuse me? Racist? What was racist about earlier?
SC: Well she was walking behind me, and it looked like she was following me because I am a brown man.
S: She was just walking to the break room. Racism is a pretty heavy word to throw around.
SC: Well it was very racist of her to do that.
S: Well what if N was walking behind you, would that have been racist?(N is also of Indian descent)
SC: Well, no.
S: Why not?
SC: Well he is brown like me.
S: So just because E was white and walking behind you she had to be following you? Because she is white and your brown?
SC: Well, yah.
S: See, now THATS racist.
SC: Buh....wu?
S: Singling her out because she is white and launching into a tirade? That sounds racist to me.
SC: Thats not what I meant.....really.
S: Its what you said though.
SC: Err.....do you guys sell Apple laptops?
N: Nope.
SC: O, thats all I wanted. K Bye.
SC hightails it out of there.
