In the information department today, I found someone advertising their wares in the inbox.

Meatless ham. We actually do a type or two of this and it doesn't look that different from the processed ham stuff. Not really close, but close-ish.

As a request, since this is something vaguely connected with my work please don't try to harangue the company over there if possible etc, but ... that could have been made to look far more palatable. It could even have been made to look edible.

I don't understand the concept of "making faux meat" products for the vegan and vegetarian market.
when I eat meatless meals it is because I don't want meat!

I'm not veg because I didn't ever like meat. Sometimes I get a craving. But I don't want an animal to die for it. Some dishes just don't work with beans as a substitute. (Luckily, a lot do.)

@Kiwi, aaah, it's tasty. Some of us vegetarians used to eat meat and loved it. I avoid meat now because of the ethical issues. That doesn't mean I wouldn't find a good fakemeat to be tasty.

That one looks... very odd. I've seen way prettier ones than that, or maybe just presented better. But I'm sure it tastes good.

I forwarded the site to our frozen buyer, pointing out that the main site (linked on the above) is far more professionally presented. Of course, there are many examples of Engrish there, and the dubiously named Chef Hung gives his best tips.

She replied to say she needed the laugh and that if there were a distribution point closer she'd be tempted. Some of their gear does look pretty impressive.
