3 cakes with pies in them. From top to bottom; golden sponge cake with apple pie, white sponge cake with cherry pie, and chocolate spinge cake with pumpkin pie.

I could see perhaps a pumpkin pie inside either a spice cake or carrot cake with the cream cheese frosting, but not all 3 layers.

Actually I could see any one of the 3 layers but not all 3 at once. I think apple inside spice would also be fairly decent.

I may try making a one layer one.

My grandmother was telling me she had seen this in a magazine recently. After talking with her, it seems relatively easy to make. I'm thinking I'd like to make a devil's food chocolate cake with the cherry pie in the middle. Chocolate and cherries just go together oh so yummy!

She said you make your pie, remove the crust edge. Prepare your cake batter as normal. Flip your pie into the center of the cake mix. As the cake bakes, it'll rise up around the pie. Voila! Cake-pie!
