Almost nothing of note happened around here in the last week of April, but, with the arrival of May, I've had no trouble getting my daily dose of facepalming.....
Following Rules, Optional. Consequences For NOT Following Them? Mandatory

-Yes, and I really hope you guys have it, otherwise I think someone stole it!
-Don't worry, we do have it, it was called into us for not having a permit for where it parked, it will be $115 to pick up
-*Sigh*, Oh, okay, can I come and get it right now?
-Certainly, there will be someone here 24 hours a day, just call us when you get to the front door if you don't see anyone inside.
-Okay, we'll be in in just a... uh... I ... uh, hold on, my Wife has a quest....
*suddenly a different voice, much less docile, comes on*

WHAT DID YOU TOW US FOR?!?!?!
-The car was called into us for not having a permit for the lot it was parked in

WE WERE ONLY HERE FOR 30 MINUTES TO VISIT!!!! AND YOU JUST TOWED US?!
-Yes, cars in that lot must have either a resident permit or a visitors permit displayed, those that do not can be towed

-Yes, that's about how long we've had the car

-I'm sorry, but that is the rules of the lot, you must display a permit to park there at all times

-And that's why you were towed, if you had just used it again, nothing would have happened

After a while, you get jaded and cynical because you really have heard all the excuses, but this one I'd never heard before, honest!

Heh, no, I didn't say that for real. Since I hadn't hooked the car up or anything I couldn't charge anything... so she did get to go at that point. And sadly that means She probably thinks that excuse WORKS, so it'll just be tried again at somepoint in the future because "the last guy let me do that!"
Oh well.

I can only assume your school has decided to skimp on the English part of the curriculum and put that saved money towards hiring a string quartet and new espresso machine for the teachers lounge, considering you drove past 2 signs that said "PRIVATE PARKING PERMIT ONLY" and parked in someone else's spot with a car that had a bumper sticker proudly proclaiming you were an "Honor Student - West Winnego High School"
Remind me to never send my kids there if I ever have any, if you do in fact represent their best and brightest
