Default Not toys for teens

Was at a supermarket at 1 in the morning (yay 24 hour stores for those of us who simply aren't awake during the day!) and pulled in to park, and these two teenagers were riding around on those electric wheelchair shopping carts. At first I didn't really pay them much attention, because have friends who don't look like they're disabled but are, but when they started ramming them in to each other before I had even gotten out of the car.... those things aren't cheap the last time I checked, and the chances of them paying for it if they broke one.... much less both?

Went inside to inform MoD, who chased them off by calling the police on them, apparently spooked them pretty badly.

Isn't there a curfew where you are? At least around here, the curfew is 11pm, teens under 18 need to be home UNLESS they are working/returning from work or with a parent/guardian. Doesn't sound like these kids were either!

I've seen crap like that at stores here and there where kids will decide to grab one of the motorized chairs and race them around a store

As slow as our motorized carts go that wouldn't be much of a race.

You may be right.

I mean, the wheelchair my Mom has would move faster than the scooters at Wallyworld on a bad day.

This is why the local shops that have electric scooters keep the keys behind the desk, & you have to either be a member of their mobility club (i.e. give personal details) or leave some kind of deposit to use it.

On another note, the local supermarket was clearing out behind their customer services desk & found mum's original mobility membership card - the one that they lost 3 years ago...

Theoretically there's a curfew, but it isn't really that enforced, the police here are just trying to keep up with the new 'no texting while driving law' I think. I don't envy them...
