    I do think I have GAD but I've never been officially diagnosed for it. Cognitive therapy sounds promising as I'm really not found of the idea of behavioral meds. I'll give it a try if it comes to that, but I think an official diagnosis is in order first. In the meantime I'll try some positive thinking. That could never hurt.

      Just so you know, the meds most typically used for GAD are not behavioral meds, but anti-depressants. Basically, they work because your body doesn't make/use serotonin and/or dopamine correctly. It's somewhat like taking insulin b/c your body doesn't make/use it correctly. And they don't have the kinds of side-effects that anti-psychotic medication does.

      That being said, thereapy is definitely a good first step. Why take meds if you don't have to? Just don't want you to not take them if it turns out you need them.
