  • Lights out!

Yesterday at my casino the electricity went out for a few hours. All the food places had to close, the elevators were down and it was pouring rain outside.

Customers couldn't get into their rooms... For one thing no elevator to get up to the room and if you were in your room no AC or TV. And it was hot and muggy.

I wondered if someone had left their room in their underwear to get ice, what then? Can't get back into the room, (the phones were down), couldn't call for help and you'd be stuck wandering the halls.

So you can imagine the fun we had explaining all this. I truly did feel bad for them cuz all of that sucks but mother nature was angry.

Normally casinos have generators but ours was on the fritz (I guess?) only a few lights worked and all the high roller slot machines went down!

So let me sum this up: Customers couldn't: Eat, go to their rooms, use the ATMS, phones and all the bathrooms were pitch black!

SC: *looks around* so... did your electricity go out?

My CW was hesitant on answering cuz it was really hard not to be a total smartass!

    CW: ....Yes.

No, ma'am we're just trying to save some money!

Ouch; no generators for the basics? At the very least I'd expect emergency (battery) powered lights in any public area (like bathrooms). I know I had to pester my own work (and we aren't even a public place, just an office building) to get emergency lights in the coat room. When we lost power, it would be pitch dark in there, combined with people looking to change shoes and get coats. Made for lots of fun.

As for your situation, you should have said your casino was having a promotion for the new NBC Drama "Revolution"

How many floors in the hotel portion? There's stairs, right? But then I suppose without emergency lights, the stairs would have been dark, too.

At my hotel anytime the electricity goes out people seem to think they should get their room for free like it's some how something we have control over.
