  • Possible Scammer Wants $ for 'Stolen' Cart!

Got a call for a customer complaining that her shopping cart was stolen while she was in a store restroom. Got there and spoke to the woman. She said she left it with ‘this guy from the bus.’ Well, she found him and he said yeah, he had wandered off and forgot about the cart. So store security is nice enough to look for video. Video shows her leaving her cart one place and going back into the store. Then she returns and takes the cart and just outside the door with it and comes back in. The cart was juuuuust in a blind spot, and the guy she supposedly left it with was never in the picture. The video also didn’t show her going to or from the bathroom; she went to the back of the store and got this other woman she was with. There was just no clear evidence what happened to this cart, and when she was told that she FLIPPED! She expected the store to either refund her or get her new items for what was lost. Her friend also began bashing me for ‘not detaining’ the guy they’d (supposedly) left the cart with. The store made it clear that the cart was in her possession and they had no responsibility for what happened to her items afterwards. I kept asking her if she wanted to file a police report, but she refused. She began swearing and yelling to the point that they kicked her out of the store. She came back and they began calling the police. She finally left, but began raising a fit in the mall so I told her she would have to leave property. She began swearing at me, calling me a b*tch, etc. I was just about to dial when her bus showed-up. She screamed all the way onto that thing, with the parting shot of “I don’t even care, that’s why I steal here anyway!” Another lady waiting for the bus near me rolled her eyes and told me to not let that woman’s words bother me, just let them roll right off because some people are never happy and can’t take responsibility for their own actions. I told the lady I was just sorry that she was going to be stuck on the bus with that lunatic! But now we know to look for this woman in the future.

So, wanting free stuff, not wanting to involve the police, and taking a reeaallly long time to spell your name for me? Smells like a scam to me.

PS. She had a receipt for the stuff in the cart; she had exchanged one item for another at customer service.

So basically, she swiped some stuff, then reported it stolen on the idea that you'd replace it and she'd get a 2-4-1 deal on it ... Nice. Any possibility your store will ban her?

So did she say, "Yes, I paid for the stuff, no, I don't have a receipt, it was in the bag." I don't see how that is your fault. What a shitty scam.

parting shot of “I don’t even care, that’s why I steal here anyway!”
next week when she comes back to "shop" she is going to swear she never said that.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

Personal responsibility is one of the new vulgarities these days.

BTW, LillFilly, I'm just wondering if there is an extra word in here.
