So I went to my dad's birthday dinner the other night, and he and mom had gone to a bar earlier before meeting us for dinner and regaled us with this lovely story.
Apperently, dad struck up a conversation with someone there, and they got to talking, and dad found out that the guy is a lawyer in West Palm Beach (where I grew up and dad lived most of his life in Del Ray), and the big shot was just here on business....or he thought he was a big shot at least cause he knew Hubert Humphrey...
Tried to act all big and important....dropping other names of people he'd met and knew....
Dad just sat quietly making appropriate comments.....while holding back that he knew Mr. Humphrey personally (before he died of course), and actually worked on the campaign trail with them.
