  • Read the effing sign!

Incident happened at an "underground mass transit" sandwich shop at a Pilot truck stop. All of this brand of sandwich shop at Pilot have a big sign (located at the "choose your bread" station of the assembly line) that they don't accept the sandwich shop's stored value cards.

In line ahead of me was a group of 3 teenagers. They order their sandwiches, food is prepared, and they get to the register. Guess what they present as a method of payment? Naturally, it's refused (the sign SAID these cards aren't accepted here). Kids only have $15 in cash. They wind up calling their mother (who's going to be picking them up there) to bring the cash to pay for the food.

Worker makes a (IMNSHO) bad move - lets them start eating before the mother arrives. In other words, if anything goes wrong with the payment process, worker is in deep shit.

indeed that can be a problem.

and ... it's not as if they weren't notified ahead of time what kinds of payment were allowed.

I'm just surprised the kids didn't whine that the sign wasn't big enough, or that the cashier didn't point it out to them sooner, or that it wasn't on a giant poster at the window.

You know... shit that the adults usually say when they don't want to admit they were lazy and didn't pay attention.

The sign is stuck to the front glass on the "meats" section of the cooler/assembly line, so it's right in front of the customer when they step up to order their sandwich. If you're near a Pilot with that particular fast food restaurant, you might want to take a look.

Any bets on what they were actually looking at instead of the sign?
