I have two local H&M's and they're all of five minutes apart. If I can't find something in one, then they send me to the other. Today one of their staff offered to call the other store (lovely as it was raining) and ask if they had the shoes I wanted. They didn't but I dealt with it - buy purchasing them in another colour.
After I paid, I asked the girl who helped me for her name so I could let customer service know how helpful she was. She seemed really happy and the customer service rep seemed just as chuffed, and a bit surprised to start with.
