Cruel would be having a TV, and leaving it on the Weather Network 24/7. Make sure it's a true weather network, with no movies or anything, just the weather outside, and what's coming up, every 15 on the 15, no interruptions.

They don't get full cable, but they do get something like 30 channels. We don't care what they watch in their cells, but in my cellhouse they don't get TVs of their own. Though only one channel has been officially banned (BET, because there were too many fistfights between the guys who wanted to watch it and the guys who didn't), the TV out in the open is for us to decide what's on. My Sgt doesn't let them watch sports at all on her side, and I figured I should run my side consistently. But as far as they need to know, it's because I said so

Yup. My elderly father went in for DUI vehicular manslaughter (Lawtey, FL) . They got whatever the tv picked up in the pod. Maybe two or three channels came in.

Your inmates have ESPN? I can't afford cable.
