			<content:encoded><![CDATA[A CW had a Doordash customer whose card wasn't reading at all.  The card itself wasn't even recognizable as a payment card unless you looked really closely.  The front was scratched to hell and almost plain white--it looked like the card got wet and the ink had run off--and the stripe on the back was even half worn away.  For the rest of my shift we were trying to figure out how that happens...since it was a gig service, I'm betting that they cheap out on making the cards.  My college student ID is in better shape than that card was.<br />

After a few minutes of both of us trying to explain to the SC that his card wasn't going through and he needed to call Doordash, Shuffles got involved.  Even he couldn't get it across to the SC, and SC decided that the best way to 'solve' this was throw something at us (luckily  my reflexes were better than he thought, he had shitty aim and hit the counter behind me), storm over to the desk and proceed to yell at Shuffles in Spanish for five minutes...probably hoping that he'd give the guy his stuff for free.  Thankfully that didn't work. <br />

We reported to SM that SC was throwing things, but the response was along the lines of a shrug.]]></content:encoded>

I was told by a coworker that the closer at the gas station (K) got into an altercation with a customer on...it had to have happened Saturday after I left, because I saw K earlier that afternoon when she came on shift.<br />
<br />
D told me that a guy at the gas station was dispensing gas into an unapproved container (probably a gallon water jug, I've witnessed that myself). K stepped out of the booth to tell him he couldn't do that (it's not clear if she warned him through the speaker first). The guy <i>threw gas on her</i>...D said that K &quot;threw it back&quot; (probably the empty container, K can be a bit of a hothead but I can't see her doing anything other than defending herself).<br />

Police, ambulance and the fire department were called, it's not clear who called them or if the guy and his buddy got arrested, but not only did K press assault charges on him, he also pressed charges on her.<br />
<br />
D told me that none of the managers lifted a finger until they &quot;discovered&quot; the cops had been called. K is suspended pending the investigation. Luckily there is prolific camera coverage of the gas station and all the pumps...I'd kinda like to see that video myself.<br />

I've always been very leery of women working over there alone; there's no easy way to contact the store if something goes wrong.]]></content:encoded>

WC: &quot;What! Why is it that downtown where there are more criminals the stores have baskets?!?&quot;<br />

What I *wanted* to say was &quot;How the hell should I know? Go ask the fucking criminals!&quot; But there were customers behind him.<br />

I suggested he contact corporate. That got the usual &quot;Pfft&quot; making it clear that this was far too much trouble. Thankfully he left shortly thereafter.<br />
Seriously, use a small buggy if you're not buying much. I do. I'm buying a carton of milk and a loaf of bread ... I grab a small buggy.<br />

Later I asked the store manager about this, just to make sure I was giving the correct explanation. I was. I once put small printed &quot;stripe faces THIS WAY&quot; labels down the face of the pinpads indicating the swipe direction (and they were working!), but someone took them down.  No &quot;handwritten&quot; signs as per manglement...<br />

A lot of said customers expect me to physically handle the card and do <i>everything</i> for them (swipe, enter PIN, confirm payment).  I've lost count of how many times I've explained that no, we <i>can't</i> handle a card or interact with the pinpad (unless a customer is legally blind and/or physically impaired, and even then only if they indicate they need us to assist).]]></content:encoded>
