  • First day back on the slopes...

Yay! It's time to throw myself off mountains again! Here are some random observations from today...

    • You know your skis are mountain-ready when they draw blood.
    • White jackets WILL get dirty, even if you do everything you can to avoid it.
    • If a particular slope is empty, there's probably a reason.
    • No matter how much you've been running, the first day out will be utterly exhausting.
    • Fried food tastes better in a lodge.
    • Be glad for the layers, they're for the top of the mountain, not the base.

    Bonus suck!

A trio of idiots decided that the best place to plant themselves was in the middle of a trail, right over a ledge. Then they started flinging "death cookies" (hunks of ice that don't get broken up by the grooming) at each other. Apparently my yelling at them was enough, as they moved after I nearly sideswiped one.

I was wanting to go skiing this year, but I'm going to have to put it off until next year. I have been wanting to ski with Hubs for years, but we never had a chance to go together. He learned to ski on the Minnesota hills. I told him I would take him real skiing (Colorado style) someday.

I pick up a midweek season pass to my local hill. It's a fraction the cost of a normal pass, and as long as I get out once a week throughout the season, I've more than paid for it.

I'm admittedly an east-coaster, though. Don't know what to do with myself in powder!

          1. Wonder which way is up.
          2. Wonder how many meters down you are.
          3. Wonder if fireheart would like to teleport her 40's to you.
