  • Interview obtained

Have an interview for a different job next Wednesday. It's factory work, but the facility is pretty new and is completely air-conditioned, and the money will be much better.

Depending on the shifts, I could stay on at the swamp, but no more than two days a week.

    Wish me luck guys.

    Good luck, Irv!

I've done factory work for almost 8 years now. I don't think I could do anything else.

Good luck! Hope you get the job.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

        Good luck!
And hopefully shifts at the swamp will still be possible, we'd all miss your reports of the crazyness!

I say that only because one of the shift options is three 12-hour days. Probably Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but I'm already used to working weekends. I'd get terribly bored sitting around doing nothing for four days.

But I am not going to be sad to be leaving the swamp if that isn't possible.

Best of luck, Irv! And if you do get the job, don't be a stranger. Even those who've escaped customer service are always welcome around here.

That's more than understandable! And to think about the chaos in the swamp when you're not around anymore to take up the slack of your co-irkers.

                    Good luck, man!

If you do both jobs, I'm sure the swamp will keep you busy -- especially if you take the 3-day weekend shift at the new place. After all, that's three days in a row where nothing will get done at the swamp! you'll have your work cut out for ya

Don't commit to too much early on. Sometimes factories schedule like that because you might need the days off to recover. When I was hanging paper on the fast press, I slept almost 12 hours on my first day off because my muscles were so worn out. I did get into pretty good shape after a few months of that work, though!

Yeah, I've now decided I will be quitting the swamp should I get the new job.
