  • What's in your pockets?

I'm always curious as to what we all do & the massive variety in tasks we perform.

So to that end, what do people have in their pockets when at work?

    I've got:
    Mobile phone
    Tuff cuts
    Rescue hook
    Israeli bandage
    Oramorph syringes
    Stethescope
    Pens, lots of pens
    ID & swipe cards
    Pen torch

So, with no context, what do you folks carry?
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

Android phone, keys, combination stylus/pen, my wallet (of course, with usually between 5 and 20 dollars in assorted bills), and a razor utility knife. There's a 16 gb USB thumbdrive on the keychain. And a small multi-tool in a belt holster - that thing is fiendishly handy at times.

I frequently carry a small canvas bag, which holds my tablet, two doses of each medication I take, a spare shirt, a power bank, 12V and wall-type USB adapters, (plus cords for iPhone, mini and micro-USB), $5-10 in quarters, a couple of MRE-type snacks, and often a paperback novel. That bag usually stays in the car, though I have been known to bring it into the store and stash it in my locker. I've worked enough 'unscheduled' doubles and extended shifts to know that it's handy to have that stuff nearby and accessible.

Coworkers frequently joke about the bag, calling it my man-purse.

        Handses!

        (Gollum FTW.)

Seriously, though: Android phone with my password manager app, keys, and occasionally a pen.

Nothing, because a large portion of my work involves sitting (on the floor to mark hems, in a chair to sew). BUT I do keep a pin cushion on my wrist, and a small apron with safety pins, scissors, needle and thread, and push up cups.

I've got different levels of job, as I'm a jack of all trades. Day to day, I'm pretty basic. Wallet, keys, phone, multitool, lighter and a small flashlight.

When it comes to work, I have a multitude of tool belts as well as climbing harnesses with attachment points for tool bags/buckets. Good example are two upcoming jobs.

Tomorrow I'll probably put as little as possible in my pockets, wind up mostly with sawdust in em by the end of the day. Phone and radio in a chest pouch, tool belt with wedges, tape measure, chainsaw file, extra chain, saw multitool, first aid trauma kit w bloodstopper bandages and a small axe.

Later this week, nothing in pockets. All attached to the harness or a tool bag I'll haul up once I'm aloft. Phone and radio again in a chest mount, though a different model than my woods kit. First aid kit attached to small of back of climbing harness. Basic hand tools for the job, including putz, wing nut, and focus wrenches, crescent wrench, screwdrivers, and a dead blow mallet. Also going to have the steel cabling kit; cable shears, swage crimper, electrical tape, swages and sleeves, and the roll of cabling. At points, I'm also going to have a cordless drill, related bits and bobs, anchors, and the epoxy for gluing in said anchors. I'll also have a drop bag with me for my cut offs and garbage(I get 3 anchors per tube of epoxy, and I have 75 total anchors to install)

Back at my last place of employment, a newspaper: Phone, keys, wallet, notepad, pens, USB stick or SD card (in case the camera filled up); camera nearby in the car.

                  Day job:
pants--my phone, my walllet, wheresgeorge.com money, two pens, a marker, my lighter and various scraps of paper
jacket--various scraps of paper and my smokey treats
if I choose to wear my apron with pockets, I have lots of random things and so many crumbs...

                  Night job:
pants--most of the same as the day job, minus the paper and writing utensils, but add Chapstickâ„¢ and a scrunchie
                  jacket--smokey treats and loose candy

Pencil, eraser, white board marker, whistle, extra hair ties, and whatever nonsense I've confiscated from students (usually paper, Pokemon cards and hot wheel cars).

At home or work? For home/off work, typically I have my phone, wallet and change purse on me. At work things get interesting, espcially if we expand to what's on my belt. Lets see, walkie talkie, PLE keys, cell phone, MC40, printer, Telxon, wallet, change purse, marker, pen, cell phone stand, stylus, box cutter and sometimes a long peg hook.

In my apron typically during the day:
                            Pen (MINE!)
                            Wallet
Smaller 'card' wallet with SCO cards
                            Phone
                            Post-its/small notepad
                            Hand sanitizer
                            Pennies

                            Night shift:
                            Wallet
                            Pen

My pants usually don't have pockets, or I'm wearing a dress... damn designers. But my coat has pockets and generally I have my cell phone, credit card, throat lozenges - I don't have a cold now but I did - and used kleenex. I am a little drippy, especially when it's cold out.
