  • Hehehe it's the workplace from Hell....

So for non-Retail(TM) fans,Brice has jumped ship from Grumbel's to try for somewhere where they don't coddle their employees. And arrived at Delman's where they don't coddle them.More like poke them with pitchforks amidst the maniacal cackling

I've been following this plot line. He's made so many idiot mistakes, jeez. Piss off the people you work with, make a hasty career move without doing any research, burned his bridges at his old work. I'm happy Norm is showing what's happening to him, though I think Marla's a bit of a moron for hiring the wacky new AM. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong on that though.

Here's the start of that extended story arc, FWIW. Also, Brice isn't just burning bridges: he went on a search-and-destroy mission for them.

I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

One thing for sure, Brice is going to realize that Marla's way of treating her staff gets better results than treating them like crap!

I wonder how long it will be before he finds out about the promotion he missed?

Maybe Chloe will end up getting the promotion Brice avoided.

I love Retail (the comic) but the "Crystal is a nut" thing is a bit irritating. I know she's being presented as weird, but I've known people in the pagan community who believed they'd lived past lives, did meditation (I've done it myself) and similar things, and they were all able to hold down a job and communicate (and work) with people who didn't follow the same practices.

Maybe I'm a little too sensitive about this. I kinda hope she'll turn out to actually be a decent, if slightly different, asst. manager. Maybe she'll want to cleanse Brice's negative energy from the store or something.

I also hope she turns out better than she's been portrayed so far. Different personalities are GOOD things, I don't want everyone to be cookie cutter people. But I'm worried Norm has put her in the "weirdo" category, and is going to use her as a foil for Marla.

Same here. It may very well be that Norm means her to be an odd person who *just happens* to do meditation and follow pagan ways, rather than stereotyping her *because* of her beliefs. Just keep in mind that something that complex may be a bit deep for a newspaper comic like this one.

As for Brice -- This is Grumbel's. What Marla thinks of a prospective (or returning) employee apparently means next to nothing. If Stuart still likes the guy (he was one hell of a brown-noser), all he has to do is ask for his job back and Stu will make it happen. Remember, he views Brice as *an ideal employee* who has gleefully drunk the company's Kool-Aid.
