Customer and two kids came through my line the other day and put a small number of items on the belt, saying (apologetically) that she wanted to make sure she had enough cash.
No problem. I ring things through and she watches the total mount up until it hits $10.35. She hands me a $10 bill and says she'll put the rest on debit.
Her card is declined. For a measly 35 cents.
Customer: "Oh well, okay, take [Item] off."
Me: *punches up 0.35 cash on till and hands her the bag with nothing removed* "
Customer: *a tad stunned* "Uh, wait ... are you sure? No, really ...."
Me: "[Corporate CEO] isn't gonna go broke over 35 cents. Have a good day."
